Instead of looking at engagement data from the top down, the Journey Explorer provides users an unprecedented look into the actual sessions and user experiences that matter most. This makes it easier than ever to understand how a site's visitors are interacting with its content, all the way from acquisition through conversion. Here's what you need to know:
The Explorer
The Journey Explorer itself is an intuitive way to view how individual users interact with your site over time. It includes acquisition data from each session, active time browsing every page, form submissions, site searches, and much more.
Finding journeys is simple. In the left panel, you can select individual journeys you want to view. These are helpfully tagged with relevant actions (like active users, or those who have converted), and can be narrowed down in a number of ways.
Curious about journeys that resulted in conversion? Just click "conversions" and you're there. Maybe you'd like to see ones where the user performed a search? Just click the advanced panel and select the "search" filter. Or perhaps you have a specific journey in mind you'd like to investigate further? You can use our search function to find it by whichever identifying characteristic you can think of.
Once you've selected a journey, you'll see its detailed information appear in the right panel. This is a chronological timeline of every activity they've performed on your site, with major events automatically tagged and highlighted. Want to know which pages a user visited before they converted? It's there. Or maybe someone searched your site right before bouncing? We'll show you what they were looking for.
The Data
So how do we get this data? The best way is through Slickstream Embed, which exists on all of our subscriber's sites already. This provides a very granular level of detail on user engagement, from true activity time to individual search queries and much more.
But if you're not a subscriber yet, we provide an easier integration option through Google Analytics. By authorizing view-only access for the Slickstream application, you can explore journeys for yourself with no risk and without a single change to your website.
